Still in Vegas Missing Family all the time

Well it has been awhile since I was here and even if it is late I thought I would put in blog page two.

It was never explained to me that when I changed jobs to become an electrician that I would have to travel to keep a job. Well it is a lot like being in the Navy. You just have to find where you are needed so you can keep working. That means anywhere in the U S of A.

In the Navy I went out to sea for six to seven months at a time. I went to different ports and was able to write home and get mail. But I didn't call alot due to the cost of it. When I called Rosanna from the ports over seas it cost $90.00 for a twenty min call. Now being a traveling electrician I talk to her almost every night from twenty mins to sometimes over an hour or more. Being we both have the same cell phone carrier it is free. Emails are nice to send pictures and I LOVE YOU NOTES.

It is not like being home and being able to sit and talk or go to the store. It just isn't the same. At night when I go to bed it is alone, except for my thoughts. No warm bodies to lean over and kiss good night. At night is the time I dread the most. In the day time I am at work and it overruns my thought process of being at home. Saftey comes first. With out it I may not make it home.

On weekends I long to be home but know that at $200 plus each weekend to get there is out of the question. It wouldn't be so bad if we were getting some overtime so that I could afford to make it home more often. But every three months or so I make it home and this coming Labor Day week end will be the first time since the 4th Of July. The bad part is I am driving and it takes about twenty eight hours round trip. So that makes a long weekend short. I would fly but need to bring home some stuff knowing that I will be getting laid off soon.

Well now you know what a traveling electrician goes through not being home. I have friends who have been on the road for the last five years. The work from where they are from is even worst. I know that I could come home and get a job but the jobs on the web site show three weeks to three months. Then I go back to the being without a job and have to travel again.

Well as of today I have fourteen years and sixty seven days before I retire at the age of sixty seven years old. That is not work days. I would add those up but being an electrician I don't know how many will be off with out a job. But here is to 14years and 67 days to go. But then who is counting.
